How to capture team members capacity

Hi,

Is there a way to capture the Capacity of each team member? Also is there a way to specify the holidays in a sprint?

Statement from Kunagi Team

Kunagi has nothing to capture capacity of team members.

You can specify working days and free days of a week on the project administration page.

Do you have a concrete idea, how to capture teams or members capacity and how to use it in Kunagi?

In Scrum the Team commits to User Stories from the Product Backlog on the Sprint Planning meeting. This is the point where the Team (and only the Team) has to agree on the capacity they have. Since the Sprint should not be longer then 4 weeks, this can easyly be done by exchanging a few words about holidays during the meeting. Based on the remaining capacity the Team commits to some User Stories. I don't understand the need for individual capacity tracking, yet.

If you have ideas, please share them with us.

If the individual capacities can be captured in the tool, we will be able to give the team a graphical representation of how much occupied they would be in the sprint. This would benefit during the sprint planning session.

Even though capacity planning is small and once a sprint activity, representing it on the user interface while planning would give the team a rough idea of how much they will be occupied.

I see several problems with this idea and are therefore reluctant to include this in to our future plans.

To name a few:

  • How should the capacity be given? In days? In hours?
  • Where should the capacity be displayed and how?
  • Does this metric really create a value for the project? We aim to use few, but very meaningful metrics, instead of using many.
  • In Sprint Planning, how would Team Member capacity be related to Story Point estimations.
