Change unit for Task estimation
I would like to be able to change the units for tasks. We can't get anything done at my company in less than a day. In particular I would think that either allowing days or just switching to the abstract notion of points for tasks too.

It is generally possible to change the unit for Tasks estimation, for example to allow not only concrete measures, but also abstract ones.
As for the concrete issue you named: according to best practices and Scrum guidelines, Tasks should never be as complex as to take up more than one day of work. You should try and split such huge Tasks into several subtasks.

I general I agree that tasks should be short. However in my org even a one line code fix takes a day after test development, review, remote submission and verification. My team will have to constantly do the *8 /8 mental math.
