Resetting passwords does not work

The function "Reset password to default" does not work.

One of my users forgot his password, and without a mail server the "Forgot your password?"-function is not an option.

I think the Reset-function in "User Management" should overwrite the users' password with the one defined in "System Configuration" - "Default user password", but the user still cannot log in ("Login failed.").

Looking deeper into this, i guess resetting should change the users' xml file in /entities/user/, but this is not the case, as the "last accessed" timestamp shows.

Without a fix, there seems to be no way the user can work with kunagi again (i even tried manual copying an encoded password into the xml file).

Statement from Kunagi Team

Bugfix does the following: When the SMTP server is configured and the user has an email address, a random password is generated and sent to the user by email. Otherwise the default password is set. The default password can be configured by the admin.

Status

Issue is closed for Release 0.22.

Changing the password in the xml should work. You have to stop your web application server (tomcat) while changing the xml files directly.

I have tested this right now on our demo installation and it works. Please describe, what does not work for you. Please check what your default password is. Also check if the user has an email address and if it is verified. Also check, if your SMTP configuration is right and working by klicking on "Send test email".

If it does not work, please tell us if the user receives an email and if his user (xml-file) has been modified. Thank you!
