Creating a new subject in the forum is not an event

If I create a new subject/discussion thread directly in the forum, this is not listed as an event in the journal/on the dashboard. Users observing the system this way, will not recognize the thread at all!

Admittedly, we have a rather odd approach to forums (comparing to other well-known forums or bulletin board software).

The Thread itself is just some kind of container that can have a title and some notes (e. g. to summarize discussion results). To actually create the first post, you have to comment the subject (not write it into the Notes field). As soon as you do that, a Journal event is created.

Does this explanation solve the problem?

Still appears more like a workaround than like a feature to me... at least it contradicts my intuitive use of the forum, but your suggestion works for me. Thanks anyways!
