Kunagi very slow
In our company we are working using Kunagi with 3 projects.
Within our one we did already 8 sprints - each sprint has about 45 stories.
Every day we meet problem with performance of this tool ;)
It means that e.g. we have to wait after some clicks about 5 seconds to see a reaction in Kunagi. We use it within different locations - network connection is good. When we checked CPU usage on the server by Apachee it is on level of 2% so it looks that it is a problem of Kunagi clients. Also I want to add that we have 16 open sessions at once. When we started working with it - it was working very fast.
Statement from Kunagi Team
On big projects (more then 100 tasks per sprint) the whiteboard still needs over 5 seconds to load. But we were able to improve the performance and reduce CPU significantly once the Whiteboard is ready.
As a workaround we suggest to have only one porject per Kunagi instance. You could copy kunagi-data
to another Kunagi instance and then delete unused projects in both.

Issue is closed for Release 0.24.4.

We have 16 projects in one Kunagi instance (4 active in daily manner). Each project has about 5-15 users and we have 2 week sprints (so we have about 10 stories in each sprint).
Kunagi is deployed on Tomcat 6.0.29 with JDK 1.6 64bit -Xmx3096m. CPU is Sparcv9 1,2GHz x2, so really old stuff.
The only performance problem we have is with Sprint history page - only first time on each browser. (18 sprints and about 200 stories to load) - it loads about 5 sec. All other pages load very fast.

I forgot to add that we perform nightly tomcat restart.

I agree with initial issue reporter. We have 2 projects and started the first sprint. Currently we have 57 stories in sprint in 1 project, and Sprint Whiteboard page is extremely slow. The reason is javascript on the client side, CPU load is about 200% (2 cores, 100% each) e.g. when you open some task or increase estimation. We have tried Firefox 18.0.1 and Chrome.

I have changed back our kunagi installation to version 0.23 - works much faster and it does not use 100% CPU - it is really a problem of client java scripts which in newer version have some preformance problems.

Thank you for your updates, I will look into this in the next days.

Hi - whole week has gone. Do you have aby findings - our Scrum Master is close to get heart attack. If it will be further like this we will have to switch to another tool, which we really do not want. Guys - DO SOMETHING :)

We do not experiance tis problems on any installation. If it is ok for someone to zip their kunagi-data/entities
directory and send it to me, it would help very much. I would use that data on my computer only and delete it immediately. mailto:wi@koczewski.de

You could also click on the blinking "load indicator" on the top left. A hidden view opens, which shows some stats. Please send these to me.

We usualy restart Kunagi (Tomcat) every night. Could you please restart yours and tell me if the UI is still slow?

restart of Tomcat does not make any chnge. All users are loggrd on during update session.
Also now Kunagi does not work with Firefox 19.0 - edit of descripions of tasks is not possible.

Thanks for the stats, but it seams you grabbed them before opening a project. I need the stats from the moment, when a project is active, when Kunagi UI is slow...

Installed Kunagi 24.3 - not useable by team in WhiteBoard view - disaster - even on i7 machine it is slow - CPU usage 100% of one core.
Here you have stats from such state:

That seam to be usable stats. I will try to reproduce this.

Do you realy have 273 tasks on the current sprint? It seams very much for a scrum project.
I have created a test project with about 100 stories and 300 tasks on the whiteboard. It takes about 6 seconds to open the whiteboard with my Firefox on Ubuntu. CPU on my Core 2 Duo is up to 50%. After 3 seconds it goes down to normal. Can you confirm this numbers? What browser and what OS are you using? Is it possible for you to test with Firefox on Ubuntu? This would help, I need to find out, where exactly the problem is.

I was able to improve the performance on the whiteboard significantly, but the opening of the whiteboard still nedds its time. We will publish the changes in the next bugfix release.

Hi:) this sounds like a good news :)
I have counted tasks in our current sprint and we have 137 tasks infact - so the number you wrote has to contain also history or something else- BUT timings are similar as you wrote. We use newest Firefox on Windowd 7 for clients and 2003 for kunagi server. Unfortunatelly we do not have a Linux installation here for tests but if really needed - I can arrange such tests - if still needed.
I am very waiting for newest version of Kunagi :)
Thank you for cooperation :)
