Today, there is no way to exclude weekends from sprints.

This requirement was already requested by others, but we have concerns about implementing it. In some cases the team could do some work on weekends. Then the burndown would be broken.

Our current idea is, to leave weekends on the burndown chart, but to adjust the estimation line and the ideal line, so that they stay horizontal on weekends.

As the idea of agil projects is also to not to overtime the common practice should be to not include weekends. But maybe this could be a setting in the project?

It really depends on what kind of project you have. If it's a company, with workers that work regular hours, maybe it should be the default setting. However, if you have an "unprofessional" project that is developed in the project participant's free time (like Kunagi, for example), then excluding weekends does not necessarily make sense.

An implementation will certainly contain a switch to change the behaviour according to one's needs.
